Overview Position Summary The Automotive Apprentice Technician supports the Service Department by performing entry-level vehicle maintenance and assisting senior technicians with basic repair tasks. This role focuses on developing foundational mechanical skills, learning OEM repair procedures, and gaining experience in a professional dealership environment. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, mechanically inclined, and committed to progressing through the apprenticeship program. Responsibilities and Qualifications Key Responsibilities Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as oil changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements, tire services, and battery tests. Assist senior technicians with routine mechanical and electrical repair tasks under direct supervision. Conduct basic inspections and document findings accurately on repair orders. Learn and follow OEM and dealership repair procedures, safety standards, and workflow processes. Properly use tools, shop equipment, and safety gear relevant to entry-level tasks. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with dealership and manufacturer expectations. Communicate effectively with technicians, Service Advisors, and shop leadership when support or clarification is needed. Participate in OEM training programs, in-house learning sessions, and apprenticeship coursework as required. Demonstrate growth in technical competency and readiness to progress to 2ndyear responsibilities. All other duties as assigned by leadership. Qualifications Registered 1stYear Automotive Service Technician Apprentice (or eligibility to register). Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn automotive systems and repair fundamentals. Previous automotive or shop experience is an asset but not required. Ability to follow instructions, ask questions when needed, and work safely in a fast-paced shop environment. Good communication, teamwork skills, and a positive attitude toward continuous learning. Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Commitment to completing apprenticeship training and progressing through subsequent levels. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required. OEM training exposure is considered an asset but not required at entry level. INDCFO Posted Salary Range CAD $18.00 - CAD $30.00 /Hr.
