We are looking for a Technical Product Manager located in either Ottawa, Ontario or Toronto, Ontario to join our diverse team.
Reporting to the VP Product, you will bridge the gap between discovery research and engineering execution, managing dependencies to ensure synchronized releases. You will drive technical decision-making across clinician and patient applications, integrations, and platform architecture in support of Aetonix's US market expansion.
Role Responsibilities Technical Product Requirements and Documentation
- Author comprehensive technical PRDs that translate product vision and discovery insights into implementable specifications, including system architecture considerations, data models, API contracts, and technical constraints.
- Define detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria, technical dependencies, and edge cases that enable engineering teams to estimate and execute with confidence.
- Maintain living technical documentation and PRD quality standards that reduce ambiguity, minimize rework, and accelerate development velocity.
Technical Architecture and Integration Planning
- Evaluate and document architectural trade-offs for new features, considering scalability, maintainability, security, and time-to-market implications.
- Define API and integration requirements for EHR/EMR systems (Epic, Cerner), ensuring FHIR/HL7 compliance and healthcare compliance constraints (HIPAA, SOC2, Class I MDDS).
- Collaborate with engineering team leads to assess technical feasibility, identify risks, and propose solutions during product planning phases.
- Document microservices boundaries, data flow patterns, and system dependencies for complex features spanning multiple technology areas.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and capabilities (including AI/ML, new integration patterns, and platform innovations) and assess applicability to Aetonix's product roadmap, informing build-vs-buy decisions and architectural approaches.
Cross-Team Coordination and Release Management
- Orchestrate delivery across multiple development teams (3-4 teams) working on interconnected features, ensuring synchronized progress toward unified product releases.
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans that map dependencies between teams, identify critical path items, and establish clear milestone checkpoints.
- Facilitate cross-team planning sessions to align on priorities, surface integration requirements early, and coordinate sprint schedules for dependent work.
- Coordinate sprint planning across multiple teams, ensuring alignment on priorities, sequencing of dependent work, and realistic timeline commitments.
- Track progress across all teams, identifying blockers, resource constraints, and risks that could impact coordinated releases; proactively adjust plans to maintain delivery commitments.
- Maintain visibility dashboards showing progress across all teams, highlighting dependencies, risks, and blockers for stakeholder communication.
- Manage end-to-end release coordination, from initial planning through deployment, including integration testing, staged rollouts, and post-launch monitoring.
- Establish and maintain cross-team communication cadences (standups, dependency reviews, integration checkpoints) that keep all teams aligned without excessive meetings.
- Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies before they become blockers, facilitating technical discussions and decision-making between teams.
- Run cross-team retrospectives to identify process improvements and coordination challenges that span team boundaries.
Engineering Collaboration and Sprint Enablement
- Partner with development team leads during sprint planning to ensure user stories are technically refined, properly estimated, and sequenced for efficient delivery.
- Serve as technical clarification point during implementation, resolving ambiguities and making real-time trade-off decisions within established product boundaries.
- Facilitate technical design reviews, ensuring proposed implementations align with PRD intent and architectural standards.
- Monitor implementation progress, identify technical blockers early, and collaborate on mitigation strategies.
- Support QA in developing test strategies that validate technical requirements and edge case coverage.
Cross-Functional Technical Translation
- Bridge communication between Product, Development, and Strategy teams, translating business requirements into technical language and vice versa.
- Participate in discovery sessions to assess technical implications of proposed solutions and provide early feasibility feedback.
- Support customer-facing technical discussions during design partner engagements, gathering implementation feedback to refine requirements.
- Contribute technical perspective to product roadmap prioritization and document technical debt, advocating for appropriate investment in platform health alongside feature development.
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.

7+ years of progressive experience in technical product management, program management, software engineering, or technical leadership roles within software product organizations with demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple engineering teams toward unified product releases.

Demonstrated expertise in writing comprehensive technical PRDs, detailed requirements documents, and user stories that enable high-quality engineering execution.

Experience in early-stage or growth-stage product environments where speed, adaptability, and hands-on execution are essential.

Program management proficiency including dependency mapping, risk management, cross-team coordination, and multi-team release planning.

Experience managing integration points and technical dependencies across distributed teams working on interconnected systems.

Ability to facilitate cross-functional alignment and drive consensus across multiple engineering teams with competing priorities.

Strong working knowledge of modern software development technologies and practices:

Desirable: Hands-on experience building or specifying AI/ML-powered products, including familiarity with LLM integration patterns, prompt engineering, and AI product development lifecycle.
Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000 What We Offer
