The Opportunity The Analyst II is responsible for assisting with instructing, advancing and closing mortgage files in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Analyst II handles each file from the time the financing offer is accepted by the Borrower to the closing.
How You Will Contribute
- Instruct the solicitor and external property insurance consultant
- Review the file to identify any special conditions as per the commitment letter and, if applicable, CMHC’s special conditions
- Ensure that all supporting documents and pre-funding conditions have been received and satisfied before advancing funds
- Coordinate the closing process with the applicable investor, ensuring that all investor requirements have been met and obtaining investor approval
- Follow up with the applicable underwriter for any outstanding conditions
- Set up all loan details in the mortgage system from various sources, including the commitment letter, CMHC special conditions, underwriting binder, and legal documents
- Set up the loan file in the paperless system
- Calculate interest adjustments, repair holdbacks, tax holdbacks, and monthly tax components
- Post all advances onto the mortgage system, ensuring all advances balance and reconciling any discrepancies
- Complete a final review of assigned files post-funding to ensure the file is ready for audit and transfer to the Servicing Department
- Advance construction/progress draws regularly
- Complete special projects as assigned by the Director of Commercial Mortgage Funding
The Experience You Need
- Post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Quebec commercial mortgage legal documentation is a definite asset
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the mortgage industry, with a preference for commercial mortgage funding experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications
- Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of providing excellent customer service
- Team player with the ability to perform additional duties as assigned
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Working Environment And Physical Demands Analysis
- Office environment
- Periods of high volume with tight timelines
- Long periods of stationary position/sitting
- Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
- Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
- Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
