Student Financial Planner & Administrator
Location: VaCC Abbotsford (Onsite)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Compensation: $44,000 – $46,000 per year + Comprehensive Benefits
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Start Date: Immediate (ASAP)
Role Overview
Are you passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals while ensuring operational excellence? We are seeking a Student Financial Planner & Administrator to join our campus team. This hybrid role balances high-impact student support—guiding them through financial aid and payment planning—with critical administrative financial operations. You will be the bridge between student success and institutional financial compliance.
Your Day-to-Day
Student Financial Planning (~75%)
- Student Success: Meet one-on-one with students to build personalized funding plans, integrating government funding, scholarships, and personal resources.
- Guidance: Navigate students through the entire financial aid process, ensuring applications are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Compliance: Serve as the campus subject matter expert on funding options and eligibility, ensuring all processes align with provincial/federal regulations and internal policies.
- Relationship Building: Foster a supportive, student-centric environment, promoting financial literacy and responsible funding choices.
Financial Administration (~25%)
- Operations: Manage day-to-day financial tasks including processing drop calculations, financial adjustments, scholarships, and contracts.
- Workflow Management: Oversee key financial workflows, including finance pre-closures, CRC applications, student loan processing, and referral bonus tracking.
- Analysis & Reporting: Analyze financial data to identify trends, ensure data integrity, and support audit readiness.
- Collaboration: Work closely with campus leadership to streamline procedures and maintain financial transparency.
What You Bring to the Table
- Education: Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or Finance (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum one year of related experience in financial services, student administration, or a similar office environment.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with a "student-first" mindset and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Core Competencies: High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a calm, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
