About the role
Para-Transit Dispatcher
Join our STS (Specialized Transportation Services) team! This department is responsible for safely transporting special needs customers on a daily basis and must be committed to providing superior service.
The Dispatcher is responsible for effective day-to-day communication between driving staff and STS Operations to ensure the safe and efficient completion of runs.
- Ensure that all driver check-ins are accounted for
- Deal with unit breakdowns by facilitating communication between drivers and maintenance personnel, and ensure that the route involved is completed
- Provide tactful and professional phone assistance
- Administrative duties (such as filing and reports)
- Para-Transit training will be provided, as you must be ready to cover a Driver run if needed; paid Class 4 training and licensing will be provided as well
This is a part-time position, weekends, hours vary from 4:30 am – 1:00 am. Flexibility is required for holiday and weekday coverage as needed.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) driver’s license
- Map reading skills with knowledge of the city; specifically road systems and major city locations such as hospitals
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle driver, customer, and public concerns
- Clear criminal record
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
