Responsibilities:
The Journeyman Plumber will troubleshoot, maintain and repair a diverse range of plumbing and mechanical devices including hot water heating systems, re-circulating pumps, storage tanks, and relevant electrical components in a quick and efficient manner in an institutional setting and at numerous site locations. The successful candidate will install and maintain chlorination pumps, provide water tests and adjust chlorinating solution feed rates to potable water system as well as performing other duties as established in Regulation 1073 for a certified trade under the Trades Qualifications and Apprenticeship Act or as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must have provincial certification as a journeyman plumber which must be maintained by the applicant during the term of employment.
- Must possess a minimum of a Class G Driver’s License, which must be maintained by the applicant during the term of employment.
- A Gas Technician (G1, 2 or 3) certificate as relating to Ontario Regulation 212 made under the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000, will be considered an asset.
- Must have excellent oral, verbal and written communication skills and be able to discuss and present information to supervisors, principals, staff, and government agencies.
- Current computer skills to operate within a Microsoft Windows environment, access the internet, use the Board’s e-mail system, and with a willingness and ability to train to an operational level in the E-base work order system in a timely fashion.
- Additional qualifications, abilities and experience related to the duties to be performed may be considered an asset when determining the award of this position.
- Must be knowledgeable in the current additions of the Ontario Plumbing Code, Sewer Regulations, Ontario Water Resources Act and all relevant codes.
- Must be able to read blueprints, work from sketches, estimate material and layout and install new equipment. Must be qualified to inspect and work on backflow preventers.

Rate of Pay
$34.78/hour
