Job Summary The Senior Manager, DevOps is responsible for supporting and strengthening the foundational trading platform through automation, process refinement, and operational excellence. The Sr. Manager will directly enable business value creation through ensuring that there is high-quality code and high-quality technical implementation with minimal defects, improved system reliability, reduced downtime, faster feature development and lower operational costs.
Reporting to the Director, Technology Delivery, this role oversees a team of developers and collaborates closely with the Sr. Manager, Solutions Delivery to ensure platform reliability and continuous improvement. You will also collaborate with other technology leaders and the Portfolio Architect to ensure alignment to the business, portfolio and Investment Solutions group strategy and roadmap.
What You Will Do Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day platform operations and ensure business continuity through proactive support and monitoring.
- Collaborate with product management to gather business requirements and create functional and technical specifications for non-project enhancements
- Proactively identify, track, and remediate technical debt across all systems
- Provide daily operational support, and monitoring of system health, and prioritization of backlogs
- Lead system upgrade management and IT business deliverables
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with other engineering teams within or outside of Trading Platform
- Drive product ownership mindset, and quality accountability throughout the team
- Implement and maintain system monitoring, establish SLAs and track system performance metrics, while ensuring proper observability across all services
- Guide and troubleshoot production issues from start to resolution, leading incident response and implementing lessons learned.
- Establish and maintain on-call rotations, and coordinate with Product Owner and stakeholders during incidents
- Participate in after-hours deployments as needed to ensure platform readiness for the next business day.
Platform Architecture & Development
- Design and implement Core Platform architecture to enable fast platform delivery
- Build and maintain features for regulatory compliance and new financial instruments (Operational Readiness deliverables)
- Implement enhancements and improvements outside of major project cycle
- Manage and optimize team costs, and partner with Infrastructure teams on cloud infrastructure expenses and implement cost optimization strategies
- Maintain application inventory and own the implementation strategy for the Core Platform
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of software engineers while fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture, that empowers people to voice opinions and raise recommendations
- Champion resource fungibility across portfolio to enable key-person risk management and growth
- Promote platform-centric thinking to enable scalability, predictability and efficiency in business delivery
Test & Process Automation
- Champion automation in testing and development processes to improve platform reliability and delivery speed
- Work with team to establish testing standards and best practices
- Own end-to-end release processes and deployment pipelines that include automated testing
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong relationships with business partners and ensure alignment on priorities
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on team progress and system health
- Collaborating with other portfolio leaders on cross-functional strategic projects
- Facilitate effective communication within and across teams, acting as a liaison between engineering and business stakeholders as needed
What You Bring

10+ years of industry experience in software engineering or related role combined with 5+ years of experience in management or leadership roles. Experience working with investment technology platforms is an asset.

Advanced programming skills in at least one of the following server-side languages or frameworks including:

C#, Java, Kotlin

Python, PowerShell

Boot, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core

Advanced level programming in SQL and knowledge of data platforms, data analysis, modeling and ETL/ELT development

Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure

Skilled in modern development tools and practices, such as git, CI/CD, ETL tools and other DevOps practices
-
Experience with test automation frameworks, particularly Playwright, including designing test strategies, CI/CD integration and leading QA initiative
-
Deep understanding of industry standards and principles for Solution Design with technical leadership experience across investment products and solutions

Deep commitment to client success with experience leading large-scale and strategic initiatives

Proven experience building high-performing software development teams and implementing Agile Scrum methodologies

Excellent interpersonal abilities with effective communication (written and verbal) across all stakeholders including business users, technical teams, and leadership

Strong negotiation and influence skills to drive outcomes with developers, senior executives, and external vendors
