This position is being offered as part of the 2026 Summer Employment Opportunities (SEO) Program. The intention of the program is to provide career-related experience to eligible students that are also eligible to work in Ontario.
The SEO Program continues to be a project-based initiative that employs youth aged 15 to 24 years (up to 29 for persons with disabilities) provided by Employment Ontario's Integrated Employment Services, subject to approval. Should the UCDSB not be selected for this program grant, we will still proceed with the recruitment process.
Th****is position is covered under the CUPE collective agreement.
Hourly rate: $17.60
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of Accounting, the Summer Student will provide support to a wide range of administrative functions and initiatives within the Business Department, including Accounting, School Support, Payroll, Purchasing and Administrative Services. This individual will have exposure to a variety of both operational and special project tasks across the various functional departments.
Hours of work: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, inclusive of a one-hour unpaid lunch.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- Completion of a secondary school diploma and a current student or recent graduate from a college or university program. Preference may be given to students in Business, Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Clerical or similar programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word or similar software is an asset.
- Previous experience in a computerized office environment is preferred.
Skills Required:

- Possess strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and data entry skills, is attentive to detail, and is able to work to deadlines and objectives
- Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating adaptability, flexibility, professionalism, taking initiative and assuming responsibility with a focus on quality and customer service
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team, and/or the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Well-developed verbal communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate excellent oral communication skills using tact, responsiveness and diplomacy with co-workers, public and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to respect the confidentiality of information

Alternate and Continuing Education is available at 15 campuses. We have 81 elementary and secondary schools, including the TR Leger School . We have one main Board Office and three offices located in Cornwall, Frankville and Oxford on Rideau respectively.

Geographically, the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) is one of the largest public school boards in Ontario - 12,000 square kilometers (18 times the size of the Toronto DSB). Our area includes the counties of Lanark, Leeds, Grenville, Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott and Russell. We are bordered by the St. Lawrence River to the south, Quebec to the east, Ottawa-Carleton to the north and the lake district to the west.
