Job Description Position Summary RN is responsible for promoting holistic health through nursing care to residents with gerontological, chronic, palliative, and complex care needs.

Responsibilities

  • Reports immediately to the DOC/CCC or Manager any observation or suspicion of resident abuse.
  • Through appropriate behavior and work procedures, resident safety is a priority while working in the facility.
  • In collaboration with the resident, family, and interdisciplinary team members, develops, implements, evaluates, and documents individual care plans for residents, ensuring current care requirements and issues are in accordance with the nursing standards and procedures.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Performs nursing procedures such as, but not limited to, catheter insertion and removal, sterile and non-sterile dressing, stoma care, taking and recording temperature, respiration, and blood pressure, and records procedures.
  • Monitors and reports changes/concerns in resident's condition.
  • Communicates residents' specific information to families/caregivers and other professionals.
  • Documents actual and potential residents' strengths/issues, recommends nursing interventions and expected outcomes in accordance with CRNBC Standards for nursing practice and Sunset Lodge policy and procedures.
  • Completes all assigned RAI/MDS assessments.
  • Successfully completes annual AIS Competency exam.
  • Participates in Resident Care Conferences and all other committees as directed.
  • Recommends changes and participates in the development of facility policy and procedures.
  • As a role model, conducts self in a manner congruent with that of a professional registered nurse.
  • Assists in the orientation of new employees and residents.
  • Directs LPN and RCAs in day-to-day care of the residents.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications Education and Experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing or graduation from a recognized nursing program and up to one year of recent related experience or combination of education, training, or experience.
  • Current full practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).

  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment and take initiative to ensure effective and timely delivery of services.
  • Ability to operate all related equipment.
  • Physically and mentally capable of performing the duties of this position.
  • Responsive, outgoing attitude and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to type and effectively utilize a variety of computer software applications.
  • Proficiency to communicate effectively in English - both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $41.42 to $48.67 with a maximum of $55.91.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
