Participate in the apprenticeship program and become a Maintenance Non-TQ Millwright Apprentice! The Maintenance Non-TQ Millwright Apprentice works closely with experienced millwrights to learn the knowledge and skills needed to become a proficient millwright. This role involves assisting with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and equipment in various industrial settings. This role is designed to provide aspiring Journeyperson Millwrights with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to excel in the dynamic field of industrial maintenance within the natural health product manufacturing industry.

The compensation for this position is determined by your year in the program:
- Year 1 Apprentice: $29.9/hour.
- Year 2 Apprentice: $34.50/hour
- Year 3 Apprentice: $39.10/hour
- Year 4 Apprentice: $43.70/hour
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM. This position requires flexibility to work different shifts and at various Lower Mainland locations as business needs dictate.
The Responsibilities of a Millwright Apprentice:
- Assist experienced millwrights in the installation, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
- Learn to interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine layout, assembly, and installation requirements of machinery.
- Use hand and power tools to assemble, dismantle, and adjust machinery components.
- Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions, and providing installation and training on new equipment.
- Perform equipment inspections and cleaning while following a preventative maintenance schedule.
- Learn and assist operators in setup and tooling.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.

- Completion of secondary school with a graduation diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the operation and maintenance of related equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well under time constraints or changing production deadlines.
- Ability to safely working in a physically demanding environment, where lifting up to 50lbs is a common occurrence.

Program Requirements:
Apprentices are responsible for reading and understanding the requirements of their apprenticeship training program, registering for technical training every year at a recognized training provider, and tracking on-the-job training hours and reporting them every six to 12 months. Applicants must undergo a successful interview process, demonstrating a commitment to professional development, a passion for the natural health product industry, and a willingness to attend technical training at recognized institutions, such as BCIT. The successful applicant must register for their apprenticeship through Skilled Trades BC (https://skilledtradesbc.ca/become-an-apprentice) and then register for the chosen program through the recognized technical training institution. Additionally, the successful applicant will be required to complete an Apprentice Letter of Agreement, which outlines the terms and conditions of participation in the Apprenticeship Program at Factors Group.
**Program Components:**1. Technical Training:
- Participate in the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Red Seal certification program, which requires the participant to take 28 weeks in-class study over 4 years and pass four levels of exams.
- Accumulate at least 6,360 hours of work-based training, including specific machinery training (e.g., tableting presses, hard-gelatin encapsulation machines, aqueous coating systems, and packaging machines) from beginner to advanced levels.
2. Final Exam:
- The Apprentice will be tested on the entire apprenticeship during the final certification exam, including the Interprovincial Red Seal Exam. A mark of 70% on this final exam is required to pass the certification. Rewrites of the exam are available if the Apprentice does not pass on the first attempt, however only the cost of the initial exam is covered by the Company.
3. Red Seal Certification:
- A tradesperson who passes the Red Seal exam receives a Red Seal endorsement, proving that they have met the national standard in their trade.
