About The Role This position offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated software developer seeking a stable, full-time career developing complex, mission-critical software that directly impacts democratic processes across various sectors. The role primarily involves programming and testing back-end enhancements to our voting system and related infrastructure. A significant portion of your time (approximately 75%) will be dedicated to back-end development, with the remaining 25% focused on front-end user interface improvements. Due to the critical nature of our software, testing is a vital component of the development process, often requiring more time than initial coding to ensure reliability and security. Training will be provided to help you understand industry standards and the specifics of our voting system. Our current technology stack includes CentOS, MariaDB 10.6, Symfony 7, PHP 8, HTML5, jQuery, and Tailwind CSS, providing a modern environment for development and innovation.

Qualifications Candidates should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development within a team environment, demonstrating a strong track record of working on complex, customer-facing software products. Mastery of PHP is essential, along with excellent full-stack development skills encompassing PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. A strong understanding of the Symfony framework and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles is required. Familiarity with Git for version control, designing and executing unit tests, and working within a Linux environment are also necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to learn, excellent problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills. A dedicated home office setup with high-speed internet is preferred for remote work, along with self-motivation, discipline, adaptability, and a positive attitude. Responsibilities Develop a comprehensive understanding of online voting processes and our business operations to ensure alignment with project goals. Gain in-depth knowledge of the functionality and programming of our voting system to contribute effectively. Use Git and GitHub for version control and project coordination, ensuring seamless collaboration within the team. Program enhancements based on high-level specifications, maintaining code quality and adherence to standards. Develop, document, and execute thorough testing plans for each enhancement to guarantee system integrity. Review source code changes and participate in peer reviews to maintain high-quality code standards. Investigate application errors and perform load testing and static code analysis to optimize performance. Occasionally engage in non-programming tasks such as research, brainstorming, or special projects. Provide technical support to team members, including running database queries or troubleshooting source code issues. Actively participate in team meetings, sharing insights and progress to foster a collaborative environment.
