About the role

DESCRIPTION

The AbeBooks Customer Operations and Success (COS) team is seeking a versatile and agile Program Manager to drive critical initiatives across our global operations. This role requires a dynamic professional who can seamlessly transition between leading cross-functional project teams and contributing as a stakeholder or subject matter expert across diverse programs—including regulatory compliance, feature and program launches, and process optimization efforts.

As a highly analytical self-starter, you will drive significant impact through data-driven strategic decision-making, AI-enabled solutions, and innovative program management. You excel at breaking down complex, ambiguous problems into simple, actionable solutions with a keen sense of urgency, managing multiple competing priorities while continuously seeking ways to improve processes and better serve our global community. The ability to see past the noise to identify what truly matters, make smart decisions and tradeoffs, influence stakeholders, build consensus around roadmaps, and drive implementation at scale is essential. Bring your analytical mindset, collaborative approach, and exemplary communication skills to build trusted relationships across all levels of our diverse and distributed organization.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead multiple high-impact initiatives across compliance, risk management, and feature launches with strong attention to detail

  • Transform complex regulatory requirements and ambiguous business challenges into clear, scalable solutions

  • Leverage AI tools to automate and simplify processes and workflows

  • Analyze program data using SQL, Excel, and visualization tools to build dashboards, monitor performance, and deliver insights through business reviews

  • Partner with product, tech, legal, and operations teams to scope and implement solutions

  • Drive program adoption and continuous improvement through stakeholder engagement and clear communication

  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, making informed decisions and strategic tradeoffs

A day in the life
On any given day, you might query SQL databases to analyze escalation trends and identify emerging issues, facilitate alignment sessions with product, legal, and operations teams on regulatory requirements, or use AI tools to automate manual reporting workflows. You'll build dashboards to track compliance metrics, help resolve complex customer escalations requiring cross-functional coordination, and prepare concise updates for senior leadership on parallel initiatives. The work requires constantly switching contexts—from deep analytical work to stakeholder facilitation to hands-on problem-solving—while keeping multiple high-stakes initiatives moving forward.
