What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Analyst, you will report to the Director, Financial Crisis Management Group. This role is critical in supporting the ongoing modernization and regulatory compliance of CIBC’s financial crisis management plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the Bank’s Recovery Plan and Resolution Plan for regulatory submissions, with a strong focus on data-driven analysis, high-quality detailed documentation, and the design and execution of tests to demonstrate crisis management capabilities.

In this capacity, you will frequently collaborate with internal partners from across the bank to support recovery and resolution planning deliverables, and have opportunities to enhance processes for continuous improvements for recovery and resolution capabilities.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Diversity of Banking Experience – Recovery and resolution planning involves engagement across all areas of the Bank, so having experience in multiple banking functions (e.g., risk management, liquidity etc.) or a variety of roles within the financial industry is highly valuable
  • Project Management – Support the Financial Crisis Management Group by assisting in the organization, coordination, and delivery of the group’s primary mandate, including the development and execution of crisis management strategies, and the facilitation of cross-functional collaboration; this includes contributing to project planning, tracking progress, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives
  • Relationship Management – Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal partners and stakeholders across various business units to facilitate effective end-to-end process management, and deliverable completion. Demonstrate a high degree of accountability by proactively addressing issues, following through on commitments, and delivering results that support organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Initiative – Demonstrates strong initiative by proactively staying informed of applicable regulatory guidance and industry developments to understand potential impacts to recovery and resolution capabilities.
  • Communication and Writing Skills – Draft high-quality documentation to support recovery and resolution regulatory submissions, and executive-level presentations in PowerPoint to effectively communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and regulators. Ensure all materials are clear, comprehensive, and accurate.
  • Organization – You consistently manage multiple deliverables simultaneously, utilizing strong organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met and effectively coordinating contributions from various internal departments and project stakeholders.
  • Technical Knowledge – Strong technical knowledge and data analysis and quantitative analysis skills, including proficiency in using SQL and Excel to extract, manipulate, and interpret complex datasets.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate experience across a diverse range of subject matter, including moderately complex modeling and spreadsheet development using Excel, as well as proficiency in PowerPoint. Experience with SQL is not required, but considered advantageous. You also possess a working knowledge of Finance and Risk Management concepts, such as balance sheet management and stress testing. You are capable of developing financial models and are able to interpret and effectively communicate modeling results in a clear and impactful manner. In addition, you are an effective team player, and work collaboratively with group members to efficiently deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
  • You act like an owner. You thrive when you're empowered to take initiative, go above and beyond, and deliver results.
  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.
  • Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by sharing your expertise.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
