About the role

Graduate Research Assistant, College of Nursing

This position is within the College of Nursing, where researchers work hard to create equitable and sustainable solutions to improve health experiences and outcomes for individuals, families, and communities provincially, nationally, and internationally.

Primary Purpose:

In the appointment of Research Assistant, your general duties and responsibilities will be to support the research work of Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies which will include supporting Dr. Racine in doing literature reviews, development of grants, and academic papers.

Nature of the work:

Your general work location will be at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon campus, and you will report to Dr. Louise Racine.

Required Number of Hours: 10 hours per week
Duration of Employment: 1 year (renewable)

Qualifications (Skills and Abilities):

  • Strong analytical and time management skills,
  • Excellent listening skills and critical thinking,
  • Interest and experience in qualitative and quantitative research processes
  • Interest in mixed-method designs is an asset,
  • Strong Interest in refugee and immigrant health/and social determinants of health
  • Effective communication and organizational skills,
  • Proficiency in quantitative data analysis and SPSS Software required
  • Strong academic writing skills
  • Ability to respect confidentiality and the policies related to the conduct of research at the University of Saskatchewan.

Experience:

  • Good academic standing,
  • Previous involvement in quantitative data collection, such as focus groups and interviews, will be an asset,
  • Experience in using SPSS, NVivo® or other quantitative and qualitative data analysis software,
  • Experience conducting systematic literature review,
  • Experience working with MS Word and online platforms like MS Teams and Zoom,
  • Experience working as part of a research team will be considered an asset.

Education:
Applicant must be a current graduate student preferably related to health science fields (i.e. Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Community Health and Epidemiology, Department of Psychology and Health Studies, etc.) but will consider Social Sciences.
