About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced Finishing Grader Operator to join our civil road construction team. This role is critical to final road shaping, achieving precise grade tolerances, and ensuring a high-quality finished surface. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, reliable, and skilled at working independently in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate motor grader with accuracy for final grade and surface finishing, specifically Cat 14M, Cat 14H, Cat 14M with GPS.

• Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and survey markings

• Communicate with gravel trucks

• Work closely with foremen, surveyors, and other equipment operators

• Ensure slopes, crowns, and drainage features are shaped to specification

• Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance

• Follow safety policies, traffic control requirements, and jobsite protocols

• Support crew operations as needed to meet schedule and quality goals

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating a finishing grader on road construction projects

• Proven ability to achieve final grade tolerances within millimeters

• Strong understanding of civil construction and road building practices

• Ability to work on tight timelines and changing site conditions

• Valid driver’s license (Class 5 minimum; Class 3 or Class 1 an asset)

• Safety certifications (e.g., CSTS, First Aid, WHMIS) an asset

• Physically fit and comfortable working long shifts in all weather conditions.
