Description The Department of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital, in conjunction with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is seeking a qualified full-time academic Infectious Diseases specialist. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher (CT) and must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2026, or shortly thereafter.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). This position will support inpatient consultations and outpatient care including the care of those living with HIV, substance use disorder, and precarious housing, thus interest, experience, and expertise in caring for these populations is strongly desired. The successful candidate will participate fully in the educational programs in Infectious Diseases at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto and collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate will also have or be working towards a graduate degree or other advanced training relevant to teaching or education and should have a proven academic record of excellence in teaching and education. The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Infectious Diseases at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of eight full time and one part time specialist and provides comprehensive care including special interests in treatment and prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, tuberculosis, travel-related infections, migrant health, and caring for patients experiencing social and/or economic marginalization, including precarious housing. The Division includes leadership in antimicrobial stewardship, infection control, and broader public health at the local, national, and international levels. Members of the Division are internationally recognized in population and public health, clinical, and basic research, and participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate teaching programs at the University of Toronto.
