The Office of Residential Tenancies (ORT) and the Provincial Mediation Board (PMB) are combined for operational efficiency. The ORT/PMB is seeking reliable, knowledgeable, service-oriented individuals to provide front-line service delivery in its Regina office. This is a term position more than 9 months.

Reporting to the Chair/Director or Board Members/Deputy Directors, you will work as a member of our centralized client service team operating in Regina and Saskatoon, providing information and leading clients in the early resolution of disputes. After collecting and analyzing problems, you will propose and implement solutions including intervention in emergency situations.

You also will be highly productive in the preparation of legal documents and perform other duties with excellence as assigned. The successful candidate will require excellent computer skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in dealing with difficult people; and strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and manage/resolve issues in a limited time-frame.

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate exceptional patience and empathy while remaining respectful, neutral, and objective. Your ability to predict problems arising from a client's planned behaviour or action will guide you in providing direction and preventing escalation of disputes. The information you exchange with clients requires you to accurately apply legislation, policies, guidelines, and legal precedence to diverse situations.

The successful candidate will have the ability to interpret and apply legislations and regulations related to residential tenancies. You will demonstrate exceptional patience and empathy while remaining respectful, neutral and objective. You will be a problem solver. You will gather and analyze information to resolve conflicts.

You will manage a high volume of work on a timely basis, monitor several client service portals, and communicate effectively within the client service team to set priorities and meet deadlines under tight timelines. Your strong organizational and interpersonal skills along with the ability to take initiative without supervision will help you serve clients in a professional manner.

Our candidate of choice will have strong mediation skills to facilitate agreement between parties while following legislations and regulations.

You will be an innovator who can analyze and review existing legislation and regulations and provide recommendations to improve the ORT and quality of service to clients. You will provide strategic advice and recommendations to management. You will develop and implement processes for a wide variety of landlord-tenant mediations/facilitations with parties, for example breach of tenancy rights, non-payment of rent, security deposits, etc. You will develop and lead mediation and conciliation strategies related to complaints as defined in the legislation.

You will be a team player and excel in fast-paced work environments. You will be able to manage multiple priorities and competing demands.

The knowledge for this position will be acquired through commensurate experience or through a Master’s degree in Mediation, Public Administration, or a related field of study.
