Our client, an aerospace manufacturing organization specializing in innovative solutions that support the largest global aerospace companies, is actively seeking a Director of Accounting in Surrey, BC. The company has experienced significant growth and is entering an exciting period of expansion following the launch of a major new partnership, creating an opportunity for a finance leader to play a key role in supporting its continued success.
Role Description
Lead the finance function as the primary financial partner to the President and executive leadership team, providing strategic insights and guidance to support business growth and decision-making. Own all aspects of financial reporting, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, and reporting results under both IFRS and U.S. GAAP standards. Manage the monthly financial reporting cadence with the parent organization, including executive presentations, operating reviews, and presenting financial performance to key stakeholders. Develop and maintain annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial models while partnering with Sales and leadership teams to provide visibility into business performance, risks, and opportunities. Oversee the day-to-day finance operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, collections, supplier payments, banking relationships, external tax support, and annual audit coordination. Lead and develop a small finance team consisting of a Senior Accountant and Accounting Clerk, ensuring strong processes, accountability, and continuous improvement across the department. Partner closely with ownership and executive stakeholders, confidently challenging assumptions, evaluating business decisions, and providing recommendations that align with the company’s financial objectives. Support ongoing business growth initiatives by improving financial processes, leveraging ERP/accounting systems, and providing insights that help drive operational efficiency and long-term planning.
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, with experience leading a finance function in a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar senior-level role. Strong experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end close, and preparing financial statements under IFRS and/or U.S. GAAP. Proven experience presenting financial results to executive leadership, ownership groups, private equity investors, or boards of directors. Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams, with the ability to build strong processes in a growing organization. Experience working with ERP and accounting systems such as QuickBooks Enterprise or similar platforms, with strong proficiency in financial systems and process improvement.
