EXPECTATIONS OF THE ROLE
Mission Statement
You are a self-motivated Data Engineer with experience in Azure Data Factory who is an expert in efficiently moving data between systems. You design robust integrations and data pipelines, build well-structured data warehouses and support well-thought-out data migrations. You also have flexibility to work in other data warehousing environments.

Data Migrations: Design and build processes and tools for migrating data from source to target system during client Grants Management System implementations; advise clients on their data cleansing needs and data migration validation activities to support a successful data migration

Data Updates: carry out large scale data updates for clients using existing systems using existing tools and API scripts, supporting optimization and support projects

Data Engineering/Warehousing: designs, builds and maintains systems that effectively store, retrieve and analyze large amounts data from different source systems in a client ecosystem.

Developing ETL processes to integrate data from multiple sources into a centralized repository

Create data models that accurately represent business processes and support analytics

Testing and troubleshooting data systems to ensure accuracy and quality of data. Documenting the data warehouse environment
YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project 1: Azure Data Factory Data migration engineer on client-facing delivery project (estimated avg 40hr/month, Oct - May)
- Responsibility 1: Build data pipeline from Fluxx (a GMS system) into Azure Data Factory
- Responsibility2: Execute data discovery and support analysis to identify data cleansing requirements
- Responsibility3 : Build data cleansing and transformation scripts in Azure Data Factory based on identified data cleansing activities and data mapping rules
- Responsibility 4: Build data outputs of CSV files in the format of expected data migration templates of the target system
- Responsibility 5: Support iterations of data cleansing analysis and data migration verification with the Business Analyst(s) and client teams
- Responsibility 6: Participate in regular team meetings and communicate proactively using project tools
Project 2: Internal Grantbook data infrastructure (estimated avg 20 hr/month, Oct-Feb)
- Responsibility 1: complete 2024 outstanding enhancements using Fivetran, Google Big Query, and Google Cloud Function to rollout to data outputs; build enhancements and transition for 2025 Fiscal year
- Responsibility 2: Transition data infrastructure operational knowledge and design to incoming IT Operations new hire for ongoing maintenance. This includes updating the Internal BI and Data Infrastructure documentation.
Project 3: Future data migration enablement tool (estimated avg 10 hr/month, Mar-May)
- Responsibility 1: Set up reusable infrastructure and documentation for enabling future data migration support projects into Fluxx
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Three years minimum professional experience using Azure Data Factory to develop data pipelines from source systems to target systems
- Experience using programming languages Python, SQL, Azure Data Factory Expression Language, and/or REST API.
- Demonstrated experience delivering data migration activities on projects
- Demonstrated experience eliciting data pipeline requirements from functional business team members, including generating documentation outputs such as data flow diagrams and process documentation.
- Familiarity with Google BigQuery, Google Cloud Data Fusion, and Fivetran
- Proven interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented approach.
Preferred
- Familiarity with Fluxx, SmartSimple, Salesforce for Philanthropy, FoundationConnect, Blackbaud Grantmaking or similar Grants Management Systems.
- Familiarity with financial accounting principles
