Khalsa School Newton is seeking homeroom teachers for Grade 4 all subjects.
Khalsa School Newton is a faith based elementary school located at 6933 124 Street in Surrey, BC. Academic teachers do not have to be observers of the faith. Teachers from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply! We are an IB MYP authorized school. We are a growing school with a lot of opportunities. Our teachers are supported, have their own classroom and have the opportunity to be a part of an amazing community!
Currently, we have 3 openings for the new 2026-2027 school year starting September 1, 2026. We recognize North American teaching experience. Please indicate in your resume and cover letter which position number you would like to be considered for.
For Fall of 2026, we have the following three positions open. Please indicate in your cover letter which position you are applying for:
Position 1: Grade 4 Homeroom Teachers Start Date: September 1, 2026
Position 2: Grade 4 Homeroom Teacher Start Date: September 1, 2026
Position 3: Grade 4 Homeroom Teacher Start Date: September 1, 2026
Start Date: September 1, 2026 - This teacher will be provided with training to become an IB certified teacher.
Salary: $6600 per month (10 month fixed length contract)
*Only offered to CoQ teachers or teachers who have a completed application with the Teacher Certification Branch for a CoQ. Subject Restricted Teachers are invited to apply.**Teaching experience in Canada is recognized for a possible higher starting salary for CoQ teachers
Qualification Requirements:
- Valid Teaching Certification in BC (Teaching certificates in other Canadian provinces and territories are acceptable as long as an application has been completed for a BC Teaching Certificate)
- You must be eligible to be employed in Canada. Special attention will be given to applicants who are certified to or can be certified to teach in British Columbia.
- Preferrable: Teaching experience within Canada
- Ability to work full time
- Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty required
- Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives including the needs and abilities of students required
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents required
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required
Khalsa School is a Sikh school and a part of the student’s education at our schools includes education in the Sikh Faith (Sikh music, history, scriptures). However, These subjects are taught by our religious department and staff. Successful applicants will only be required to teach the BC Curriculum in English.
Teaching experience at our fine institution is recognized by BC public school districts. Please provide your cover letter and resume and clearly detail your education, qualifications, experience, and current contact information. Interviews will commence as resumes are received.
