This position has primary responsibility for the development and delivery of individualized programs/strategies to students who require additional support to ensure they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success.
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

Meeting with students one-on-one to assess and identify areas in need of improvement in relation to academic success
-
Develop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each students’ unique needs and learning style (i.e. study strategies, organizational strategies, time management, coping skills and other areas of need)
-
Work in collaboration with Tutors, Instructors, and other staff as appropriate, providing training and support when needed for students with specific learning differences
-
Support and enhance each student's personal and academic success
-
Serve as a resource to the College on matters related to learning strategies for students with learning differences
-
Assist with special events and other services offered through the department
-
Assist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the operation of the department
-
University degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, Adult Education or related qualification
-
Minimum two years in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting, working directly with students in the planning and provision of educational supports to students with special needs
-
Proven experience providing learning strategies to students within a diverse population
-
Proven ability to provide solution-focused interventions
Skills and Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Superior organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills required

Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the decision-making process
-
Ability to remain objective in decision-making when presented with emotionally charged situations and at times limited information

Flexibility and ability to change within strict time constraints and meet deadlines

High attention to detail
