We are seeking a highly skilled Utility Operations Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operation of thermal oil boilers, heat transfer systems, and distillation units.
- Chilled Water and Compressed air supply: oversee embedded site contractors managing utility services.
- Ensure stable temperatures, pressures, and flow rates across processes.
- Coordinate run schedules to meet production requirements.
- Monitor control systems and respond to process deviations.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are current and comprehensive.
- Optimize distillation parameters (reflux ratio, temperature gradients, throughput).
- Analyze KPIs such as yield, energy usage, and downtime.
- Enforce safety procedures for high-temperature thermal oil systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulations TSSA BPV and TSSA OE.
- Conduct risk assessments (HAZOP, JHA, SFMEA).
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Manage safe handling of flammable fluids and vapors.
- Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Ensure integrity and reliability of: boilers and heaters, pumps, valves, and piping, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
- Coordinate shutdowns, turnarounds, and inspections.
- Minimize unplanned downtime.
- Supervise Engineers.
- Provide training on: boiler operations, emergency procedures, and process safety.
- Manage shift schedules and staffing.
- Drive a culture of safety and accountability.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 Years experience as a manager in a process or manufacturing facility.
- First or Second Class TSSA Operating Engineer license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with operations and maintenance of large process plants that include: Recovery and Distillation Systems, Steam Boilers, Thermal Oil Boilers, Tank Farms, and all associated auxiliaries.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Resourceful and self-sufficient with strong time management skills and the ability to determine priorities.
- Strong Knowledge of TSSA OE act 219/01.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems.
- Ontario College Advanced Diploma.
