Specific Responsibilities And Functions
- Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs to all warehouse equipment including but not limited to fork lifts, dock levelers, restraints, overhead doors, high speed doors, HVAC systems, water heaters, compressed air systems, fire suppression systems and conventional racking
- Perform scheduled preventative and predictive maintenance and provide maintenance support for the automated storage and retrieval systems.
- Respond to emergency situations and support all operations of the building and automations systems
- Cleaning, lubricating and performing other routine maintenance work on building and machinery
Working Conditions
- Grocery area in the warehouse is room temperature; varies from cold in the winter and warm in the summer
- Cooler area in the warehouse is approximately 1 or 2 degrees C
- Freezer area in the warehouse is approximately –15 degrees C. Some areas of the freezer can get as low as -23 degrees C
- Moderate noise level
- Will regularly be required to stand, walk
- Required to have a high degree of concentration and alertness
Additional Details
- During peak seasons, scheduled overtime is required
- There is a 30-minute paid lunch for an 8-hour shift
- GFS Delivers every day of the year, as we are a 24/7 operation. Employees must be flexible to work all Statutory Holidays, however, this does not necessarily mean that employees will be required to work all of them.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Certificate of Ontario Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) 433A is preferred
- Refrigeration B ticket is preferred
- Skilled trade ticket required
- Must have 5+ years of direct hands-on experience in mechanical repairs and maintenance with automated equipment
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
- Ability to think and respond well under pressure
- Must have well developed knowledge and experience with mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Electrical experience will be considered beneficial
- Experience with maintenance and repair of lift trucks would be beneficial
