About the Lambton Kent District School Board

About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director of Education, the Superintendent of Education – Student Support Services/Well-Being will be responsible for providing Board-wide leadership to continue building on the strategic initiatives and priorities that the Board has taken to improve student achievement and well-being for all students; champion anti-oppressive education; and assist school administration in fostering and encouraging school-based parent/guardian/community relations.
The Superintendent’s portfolio will include responsibility for and oversight of the Board’s Special Education Plan and related staffing and training, Identification, Placement, & Review Committee (IPRC), Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), Tragic Event Response Team (TERT), Multi-Disciplinary Teams, and Mental Health Strategy.
The Superintendent will be responsible for multiple Kindergarten to Grade 12 families of schools, supporting school-based decision-making.
Qualifications/Experience:
You are an accomplished, passionate education leader with outstanding skills and expertise in educational administration. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a principal and/or vice-principal in a Kindergarten to Grade 12 Ontario School(s) is preferred and demonstrated school and system program leadership is an asset. Candidates will be Supervisory Officer’s Qualification Program (SOQP) qualified or in process of completing SOQP qualifications. If in process, please include your plan and timeline for completion of the qualifications in your application package.
An effective communicator, you possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, technological and dispute resolution skills, and sound judgement, sensitivity and an inclusive approach to building consensus and solving problems. Your strong intercultural competence and demonstrated commitment to supporting employee growth and development will be essential in meeting the challenges and opportunities of this rewarding role. A relationship builder, you are effective in working in team settings which further bolsters your ability to work effectively as a member of Executive Council and with the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will have knowledge of and experience working with community partners and advocates.
The primary work location will be the Sarnia Education Centre or the Chatham Regional Education Centre and travel on a regular basis throughout the district will be required.
Compensation:
$185,000/annum
Comprehensive benefit package and pension plan are provided.
