About the role
Job Description:
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Data Migration SME to be responsible for planning, designing, validating, and governing the data migration approach for the MCBS program. This role ensures that migration strategies, scripts, testing, and cutover activities are accurate, controlled, and aligned with business and technical requirements, while minimizing risk to data integrity and continuity.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the data architect to design and validate the overall data migration strategy and approach
• Develop code (e.g., SQL, Python) to review and validate data preparation activities, including data profiling, cleansing, and readiness assessments
• Review and validate data migration plans, sequencing, and dependencies
• Review and validate migration test plans, execution results, and defect resolution
• Validate migration scripts, transformation logic, and data-related user stories
• Participate in cutover planning and execution, including timing, sequencing, and dependencies
•Develop and validate rollback and contingency plans to support controlled recovery in case of migration failure
• Support post-migration validation to confirm data completeness, accuracy, and reconciliation
• Identify data risks, quality issues, and migration constraints, and escalate through program governance as required
Qualifications:
• Strong experience leading or validating large-scale data migrations
• Deep understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and validation practices
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data preparation and validation
• Experience working with system integrators and cross-functional teams
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
