*Position: *Construction Safety Officer ? On Site ? Hammerdown Project, Kings Point, NL
Shift ? 2 weeks on/ 2 week off.
*Job Location: *Hammerdown Project is located near Kings Point, Newfoundland and Labrador, on the Baie Verte Peninsula approximately 12 km southeast of the Town of King?s Point and 440 km northwest of St. John?s. The Project is accessible via the Trans-Canada Highway and a network of established forestry and service roads. Travel to and from site provided by the company.
Accommodation is provided for this position, along with a daily per diem allowance of $50 while working on site.
General Description: The experienced Construction Safety Officer works at construction sites, acting as the safety lead for the job site.
The job responsibilities are outlined as follows:
· Responsible for the implementation of on-site safety orientation for all new workers
· Complete written weekly inspections reports
· Initiate and review the following on a weekly basis: daily hazardous assessment forms, tool box meetings, joint health & safety committee meetings, and open flame permits
· Complete the Project weekly safety report
· Prepare and present the monthly safety report to Senior Management for their review
· Plan, organize, schedule, and conduct routine EHS inspection of work areas and equipment
· Investigate all injuries, accidents, and near misses; identify the causes and advise on any improvements in safety standards that may be required
· Complete accident/incident forms for on-site and off-site accidents
· Prepare and submit necessary reports to the Health & Safety Manager
· Enforce the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy
· Adhere and complete the preventative maintenance program
· Identify staff development and training needs and ensure that training is completed
· Assist in the implementation and maintenance of SSE?s Safety and Loss Prevention Program, including Safe Work Practices/Safe Job Procedures and the Site Emergency Response Plan
· Monitor the safety performance of all on-site work
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and enforce OH&S legislation and codes of practice
· Ensure MSDS of all controlled products on site are up-to-date and available to the workers at all times
· Act as a liaison with the Government (OH&S), ambulance services and hospitals, management, subcontractors, and workers regarding aspects of health and safety on and off the job
· Update and display safety policies and pertinent information on the project site bulletin board
· Assist injured workers in obtaining modified duties and administer the Return-to-Work Program
· Lead by example
· Other duties as reasonably assigned
Qualifications:
· Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation
· NCSO Designation
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction Health and Safety on large scale projects
· Experience and general knowledge of all provincial health and safety regulation
· Exemplify high standard of health and safety culture
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Excellent computer literacy with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook
Requirements:
· Willingness to travel
· Must have your own basic PPE including a hard hat, visible vest and approved steel toed work boots
· MUST be double vaccinated as per site mandate.

Project Information: Supply and erection of Pre-Engineered Process Plant Building.
Magino Gold Project Location: Dubreuilville, Ontario Argonaut Gold Inc.
Project Information: Design, supply and install of Process Plant and Gold Room Pre-Engineered metal buildings, including the supply and installation of roof and wall cladding systems, the design, supply and installation of overhead cranes and monorails including electrical wiring and bus bars, load test on crane girders / monorails and commissioning of the cranes and hoists.
Newcrest Red Chris Mine Project Location: Iskut, British Columbia Newcrest Mining Limited ("Newcrest")
Project Information Design, supply, and installation of a Combined Maintenance Workshop Facility (CMWF) at the Red Chris Mining site.
Canada Fluorspar Mine Location: St. Lawrence, Newfoundland and Labrador Canada Fluorspar Inc.
Project Information: 35,000 square foot Fluorite Mine process facility including grinding, floatation, reagents and concentrate areas, consisting of pre-engineered structure, cranes, and internal structural and process mechanical. Scott Concrete Services Inc., performed all civils, structural and building envelope construction
