A Day in the Life:
The Mechanical Technician performs routine & scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns & identify persistent problems to ensure maximum operation and minimal downtime.
Position Details:
This role is on a rotating shift between days, afternoons and nights
The hourly rate for this role is 49.28/hr
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Perform repair/replacement of equipment on production lines with appropriate follow up documentation.
- Determine the root cause of equipment failure & execute pertinent solutions to prevent future occurrence.
- Ensure packaging line equipment is running efficiently.
- Adhere to Bunge’s policies, safety procedures and with provincial codes and regulations.
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
- Tests and calibrates newly installed and pre-existing mechanical equipment
- Supporting safety and continuous improvement programs
- Maintain and support existing preventive maintenance program
- Assist with capital project analysis including detailed project description of maintenance work and cost estimates.
- Investigate supplies and parts needs from stock, requesting parts purchases when required
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Journeyman Millwright Certificate
- Shift work required
- Experience in high speed packaging equipment is an asset
- Experience in a food sanitary environment is an asset
- Ammonia refrigeration/boiler experience is desirable
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Demonstrated success in the application of safety standards, compliance with safety regulations, and the promotion of a safe working environment.
- Good working knowledge of PC applications such as Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
- Superior oral, written, and listening skills.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching. Carrying and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Requires manual dexterity of both hands and feet to perform activities such as lifting, climbing ladders and stairs while wearing protective equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work while wearing required personal safety equipment which includes, but is not limited to, gloves, hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection and steel toe boots.
- Ability to wear a respirator and/or self contained breathing apparatus.
- Must successfully pass all health & safety training.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
