The project: Mace is working on major transit and transportation infrastructure programmes in Canada and continues to build capability to support current and future client needs.
The Design Manager role is a design coordination and management position within Mace’s consulting team. The role supports design management activities across complex infrastructure assignments, helping to ensure design deliverables are planned, coordinated, reviewed and progressed in line with project and business requirements.
The role works alongside senior design managers, discipline leads and wider project teams in a multidisciplinary environment and is suited to an individual developing their experience on large, complex infrastructure projects.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing the coordination of multidisciplinary design activities across infrastructure projects.
- Assisting with the planning, tracking and reporting of design deliverables against agreed schedules and milestones.
- Supporting the organisation and management of design and coordination meetings, including preparation of agendas, recording minutes and tracking actions.
- Maintaining and updating design trackers, registers and document logs in line with governance and reporting requirements.
- Supporting design review processes, including the collation of comments and tracking of responses to close‑out.
- Assisting with interface coordination between disciplines, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Managing the effective flow of design information between designers, project teams and client representatives.
- Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date design records to support assurance, audit and reporting activities.
- Supporting project and coordination meetings as required.
You’ll need to have:
- Experience in a design coordination, design management support or technical administration role within infrastructure or construction projects.
- Exposure to transit, transportation or multidisciplinary infrastructure projects is desirable.
- Understanding of design delivery processes and technical review workflows.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with document management systems such as ProjectWise or SharePoint is desirable.
- Degree, diploma or equivalent experience in engineering, construction or a built environment - related discipline.
- Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to meet standard onboarding requirements.
