About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Through ongoing exploration success, Island Gold District’s Mineral Reserves and Resources have continued to grow in size and quality. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the designs for UG construction projects and present them to stakeholders for approval;
- Prepare the detailed technical drawings for construction projects;
- Order and track the material required for construction projects;
- Present construction projects to UG personnel, with additional focus on construction methodology and safe production;
- Coordinate projects that require multiple departments by ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed and involved;
- Project follow up: site visits, quality control, cost control and adherence to plan;
- Site inspections for future projects, establishing work necessary before mobilization;
- Responsible for mine dewatering system design and deployment;
- Maintain by weekly construction schedule and communicate to stakeholders;
- Maintain standard construction budgetary cost estimates;
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts in relation with UG projects;
- Participation in RFQs and supplier/contractor selection;
- Other tasks as required;
Qualifications
- Graduate BSc in Mining Engineering with minimum 2 year of underground mining experience.
- Underground technical experience particularly in: CAD design, UG construction projects, scheduling and cost estimating.
- Excellent knowledge of underground construction methods highly regarded.
- UG water management experience would also be seen as an advantage.
- The individual should have demonstrated a high level of energy, self motivation and strong organizational skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
- The incumbent will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong commitment to working in a safe, socially responsible manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required, Deswik, Autocad and Promine preferred.
The schedule for this position is based in a camp operation working on a rotational schedule with flights provided from Toronto, Sudbury and Rouyn-Noranda. Rotation can either be a 7/7 or 14/14
