Location – Toronto, ON Our team is hiring a Common Cabling Expert to join our growing team to work on one of the most important Canadian airport projects. The successful candidate will lead cabling and communication initiatives to connect critical systems in technology environments, including Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA systems, enterprise and related infrastructure. This role is responsible for cabling strategy, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards by selecting appropriate cable types, organizing pathways, and testing connectivity. A key focus will be ensuring that systems network designs adhere to industry standards and best practices, promoting secure and efficient OT operations.
The project involves key technology systems contributing to mission-critical operations and business continuity. AtkinsRéalis’ vast experience of projects and infrastructure operations across key markets provides the successful candidate a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most important airport projects in Canada.

- This position is based at our Project Office in the west end of Toronto, Ontario requiring the candidate to be in office Monday to Friday weekly.
Your Role Within The Team
- Review and validation of cabling system designs, drawings, specifications, and submittals for technical accuracy, scalability, and compliance.
- Leading technical workshops, design reviews, and peer reviews with stakeholders, consultants, and integrators.
- Creation of new and or modifications to existing cabling standards, specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required.
- Creation of concept designs, detailed designs, scopes of work, and associated technical drawings.
- Providing expert advice on pathway design, grounding and bonding, cable selection, labeling conventions, and TR (telecom room) layouts.
- Support procurement and vendor evaluation by reviewing technical submittals and product compliance.
- Conducting or oversee field inspections and audits to verify proper installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Guide engineering and construction teams on complex cabling scenarios, including data centers, critical facilities, and large-scale enterprise networks.
- Participate in project planning, risk assessments, and root-cause analysis of infrastructure issues related to cabling.
- Supports integration of PDB deliverables with Airport Operational Systems.

The Ideal Candidate
- 15 years of verifiable ICT design experience and five years in structured cabling system design.
- 10 years experience working in a Class C Canadian airport environment providing services of similar scope and scale.
- A degree in ICT, telecommunications, or a related discipline (e.g., electrical engineering).
- Field experience in the installation of ISP and OSP cabling solutions.
- BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer).
- Manufacturer-specific cabling system design training (e.g., Panduit, CommScope, Leviton).
- Experience with data centers and telecom room design, network infrastructure standards (ANSI/TIA, ISO/IEC), ICT integration with building systems (e.g., AV, security), pathways and spaces (e.g., conduits, cable trays), grounding and bonding, network infrastructure standards (ANSI/TIA, ISO/IEC), and project documentation and administration.
- Experience with large infrastructure and/or Airport Development projects and Technology integration.
- Experience working in AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
