Summary The Automation Technician’s role is to support and initiate automation programs throughout the facility by implementing and maintaining automation projects, programs and equipment.

Job Duties

  • Program and maintain robots and automated equipment to comply with customer specifications (gate cutting, injection, sonic welding);
  • Program and/or maintain all control devices (PLCs, Control Panels, HMI’s, Motor Controllers);
  • Troubleshoot and repair all automated equipment to maintain productivity on a day-to-day basis (Controls, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Transfers);
  • Assist in engineering quality, productivity, and reliability (Continuous Improvement, Tracking cycle time);
  • Maintain and monitor proper safe operations of all equipment;
  • Maintain all equipment through preventative maintenance procedures;
  • EOA / Machine start-up;
  • EOA7 / build;
  • Back-up programs (Robot, PLC);

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field (Electromechanical Engineering Technician, Electronics/Electrician Technician, or Technology Diploma) 2-year program.
  • Minimum 1 year ABB/NACHI/FANUC Robot programming experience;
  • Electrical schematic reading skills and AB SLC500 Studio 5000 series, HMI, PLC programming ability.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
  • Able to create alternative solutions to problems
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and applications software.
  • Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.

  • 24/7 availability may be required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75lb
  • Travel may be required
