What you'll be doing

The Insider Risk team seeks to deter, detect, and respond to internal threats by investigating and responding to risk events that may be perpetrated or facilitated by an insider. Insider risk comes from within the bank or from anyone with access to critical CIBC locations, systems or information. While insider risks can be malicious and intentional, most are accidental and unintentional. The Senior Consultant, Insider Risk Due Diligence will report to the Director, Insider Risk Intelligence and Insights, Corporate Security. This role will be accountable for third party due diligence as it relates to enhanced security screening activities for contingent workers. The Senior Consultant, Insider Risk Due Diligence will review contingent worker contracts for screening language, liaise with the vendors as required, and refer screening cases to the Enhanced Screening team in Insider Risk. This role will also be accountable for creating a regional equivalency strategy in relation to enhanced screening for contingent workers. The Senior Consultant, Insider Risk Regional Governance and Reporting is responsible for supporting the overall mandate of the Insider Risk Program.

How you'll succeed

  • Insider Risk: Responsible for enhanced background screening due diligence for contingent workers across CIBC’s global operations. Develop a roadmap to ensure vendor contracts have been updated to include the appropriate enhanced screening language to allow for necessary checks and track to completion. Establish process to refer contingent worker screening cases to the Enhanced Screening team within Insider Risk . Use the established methodology to identify high-risk contingent worker populations, such as employees with “superuser”-like privileges

  • Stakeholder Management and relationship Building: Meet client expectations by effectively managing priorities, deliverables, and ensuring solutions are rolled out in an integrated, efficient and timely manner . Work with Insider Risk leadership, HR, Legal and Procurement to ensure seamless communication, and compliance with policies and procedures. Interact with internal and industry peers to review and assess program elements and maintain the bank’s effectiveness of managing insider risks. Maintain a strong network of internal relationships to promote exchange of information and ideas and enable completion of activities. Provide advice and support to various departments and leadership to mitigate their exposure to insider risk.

  • Compliance, Governance & Controls: Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls. Implement and monitor projects/programs against major milestones, and take preventative/corrective action as appropriate to ensure delivery on time, within budget, according to specifications. Ensure all changes to processes are communicated, documented and implemented through established methodology and communicated to other operations. Prepare necessary proposals and budgets

  • Reporting : Prepare appropriate reporting and conduct regular quality assurance. On an ongoing basis, modify action plans to reflect changes in objectives and priorities . Identify deficiencies within operations for the purpose of developing and implementing enhancements/improvements.

  • Industry best practices: Conduct related benchmarking to identify best practices and emerging issues, as required. Maintain an awareness of new or emerging insider risk best practices. Ensure that all processes utilized are defined, documented, measured, and maintained

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience in working with contracts and/or third party service providers. You have experience in leading cross business unit strategies to address risks. You are skilled in strategic thought and with the ability to build and implement a global program strategy, working collaboratively with key stakeholders. You have Good knowledge of the general regulatory environment and CIBC’s internal policies and procedures covering the identified areas. You have ability to effectively review contract and legal language to ensure it meets the needs of the Insider Risk program. Experienced with risk assessment and decision making . Practical and theoretical knowledge of insider threats as applied in a financial services environment would be considered as an asset.
  • You can demonstrate experience in Well-developed reporting and presentation skills e.g. PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau. Well-developed data management, project management and analytics skills. Effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to prepare reports, assessments, correspondence and briefing notes
