In determining the final salary, Babcock will consider a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and be presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

In this role, you will:
- Conduct detailed work with lockout, tagout (LOTO) software including the drafting of lockouts/tagouts required to make systems safe in support of Production and Commissioning activities.
- “Redline” schematics and conduct schematic updates and reviews using CAD applications.
- Draft test documentation and work instructions.
- Track and monitor entry safety boards.
- Act as primary Point of Contact to personnel accessing the Submarine for LOTO applicable to work orders and work instructions.
- Coordinate resources and supporting services for the testing, acceptance and maintenance activities of Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) communication systems and equipment.
- Act as a Test Director and lead a multi-disciplinary team during the testing of submarine systems and equipment.
- Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance.
- Conduct equipment troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance.
- Contribute to the determination of solutions to problems and issues of moderate to high complexity and clearly articulate complex technical issues, solutions and risks to all stakeholders (technical and non-technical).
- Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications.
- Work effectively as part of a broader technical team and lead small to medium sized teams to deliver assigned projects or tasks.
- Be responsive to Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment.
- Other duties as required.
The ideal candidate brings:

Post-secondary education in an engineering discipline or equivalent training and experience.
-
4+ years of relevant experience.
-
Experience in operating and troubleshooting information technology, communication equipment and related equipment.
-
Experience with using VCS Communication equipment, an asset.
-
Experience working with Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) personnel and coordinating communication trials, an asset.
-
Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal.
-
Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience, an asset.
-
New construction commissioning or retro-commissioning, an asset.
-
Have the physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods.
-
Have the physical dexterity to allow for working in confined spaces and areas with limited room for movement.

Is comfortable working on scaffolding at heights and around water.

Is comfortable working in an industrial environment and around moving equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.).

Strong computer skills including MS Office suite, Visio, and Auto CAD.
