Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:
S2526-13 Educational Assistant - Lac La Biche Outreach School
We are seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Educational Assistant commencing at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. The assignment involves assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behavior skills, self-help. Training in speech, language and numeracy strategies will be a definite asset.
Northern Lights Public Schools Outreach Programs offer an alternative learning environment for students including art, career and technology courses. We deliver highly individualized programs to students in grades 10 to 12 using a holistic approach to education by considering the student's total needs through counseling, recreating, living skills and work projects.
Preference will be give to who have:
- Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
- Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
- Experience working one-on-one and/or in a classroom setting
- Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
- Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
- Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
Training and skills that would be an asset include:
- Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing, and/or rehabilitation
- SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
