Job Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and executing a cohesive brand identity and messaging strategy that amplifies our mission, values, and programs. This role is responsible for all facets of external communication, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and visual identity across every channel. Additionally, the manager will support the success of internal communications and a healthy organizational culture.
Through compelling storytelling, content creation, and strategic campaigns, the manager will invite diverse audiences—including donors, partners, people with lived experience, and the general public—to engage with and support our work. The Manager will also work with CMHA Edmonton leadership to help position the organization as a systems leader in the community mental health space, elevating the voice of people with lived experience in local conversations, and increasing public awareness for the need for better systems.
Key Deliverables for this role include:

Development and management of an annual marketing and communications plan

Planning and execution of the Annual Report (print and digital)

Website improvement and maintenance

Donor-centric communication pieces, including newsletters, email campaigns, etc.

Key Responsibilities:
Brand Identity and Messaging:
-
Develop and manage an annual marketing and communications plan under a unified brand identity, including voice, tone, and visual guidelines across all platforms.
Digital Marketing:
-
Develop and manage content calendars for digital and print communications, including social media, email newsletters, fundraising appeals, and storytelling pieces.
Donor-centric Communications:
-
Work with Fund Development staff to plan, manage, and complete the Annual Report campaign. Manage all campaign collateral, impact stories, and donor communications. Create and execute a plan to disseminate and promote the report widely.

Work with Fund Development staff to plan and implement email marketing campaigns and social media strategy that drive donor engagement and financial support for CMHA Edmonton.

Manage creative production for campaigns, including photo/video shoots, design assets, and multimedia storytelling.
Website Management:

Oversee content updates and performance of the organization’s WordPress website, ensuring a welcoming, accessible, and mission-driven user experience.

Monitor website and social analytics to evaluate performance, inform strategy, and continuously improve outreach.
Marketing & Promotion:

Working closely with Manager of Community Education and Training, promote the organization’s education and training opportunities, both free and fee for services, through targeted marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels.
Print Materials & Publications:
- Produce branded materials such as brochures, pamphlets, flyers, and event signage for both outreach and development purposes.
Leadership & Advocacy Communications:

Identify and create opportunities to position the organization as a leader in mental health, including op-eds, blog posts, podcast appearances, speaking opportunities, and social advocacy campaigns.
Internal Communications:

Support the success of internal communications to promote a healthy organizational culture. Collaborate with managers to create and disseminate monthly updates.
What We’re Looking for On Your Resumé:

Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, or equal work experience
-
Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in marketing and communications, preferably in the non-profit sector

Demonstrated success in planning and executing integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns
-
Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional storytelling, writing, and design skills with a collaborative spirit and a deep appreciation for community-based work
-
Strong graphic design and website management skills. Proficiency in WordPress, Squarespace, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft 365, Hootsuite, and email marketing tools.

Experience with video production, editing, and motion graphics tools is required.
