Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Purchasing, the Storekeeper plays a key role in supporting plant operations by ensuring the efficient management of the storeroom and inventory. Working in an industrial manufacturing environment, the incumbent is responsible for receiving, organizing, and distributing parts and supplies while maintaining accurate inventory records. This position requires autonomy, organization, and close collaboration with Purchasing, Maintenance, and Health & Safety to ensure the plant operates smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Ensure follow-up on purchase order slips;
- Maintain records of tool purchases while ensuring warranty compliance;
- Process incoming requests in order to route or distribute parts and supplies within the facility and to employees;
- Receive, store, and sort parts and supplies;
- Enter the receipt of certain orders into the computerized system;
- Keep the storeroom clean, organized, and orderly;
- Store parts according to designated locations and properly identify them for allocation using a computerized system;
- Maintain up-to-date inventories of storeroom contents, equipment, and stock by recording all incoming and outgoing items;
- Ensure proper stock rotation and maintain optimal inventory levels in collaboration with the Purchasing Department;
- Inform the Purchasing Department when inventory levels reach the minimum threshold (reorder point);
- Prepare the equipment and materials required for each work order to be completed by the Maintenance team;
- Support the Buyer in the management of uniforms (scheduling appointments, fitting sessions, follow-up on repairs, etc.);
- Ensure that all plant departments are adequately supplied and provide a list of items to be ordered to the Junior Buyer;
- Refill vending machines located throughout the plant;
- Notify the Health and Safety Department when a new product is purchased or an existing product is modified in order to obtain the required WHMIS Safety Data Sheets (SDS);
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma (DES) completed, or a vocational diploma (DEP) in purchasing or mechanics (an asset);
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a storekeeper or in a similar role;
- Demonstrated initiative, autonomy, and sense of responsibility;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Good communication skills, courtesy, and professionalism;
- Good computer skills;
- Bilingual (professional-level French and English).
