The Coordinator, Dangerous Goods supports and coordinates the implementation of WestJet’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Program in accordance with company policies, Transport Canada standards, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

Core Duties:

  • Support the ongoing maintenance of WestJet’s Dangerous Goods Program, including training materials, job aids, and procedural documentation/forms.
  • Maintain necessary documentation, reference materials, and resources to support the offering, acceptance, handling, and transport of Dangerous Goods across WestJet operations.
  • Deliver Dangerous Goods training through various modalities, including classroom sessions, virtual instruction, and e-learning platforms.
  • Administer Dangerous Goods reports submitted through the company’s reporting system in accordance with program requirements, including conducting or participating in root cause analyses and developing corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform quality assurance functions under the Dangerous Goods Program, including review of documentation such as Air Waybills (AWB), checklists, and acceptance records to verify compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Provide guidance and resources to WestJet employees and guests on Dangerous Goods procedures, provisions, and restrictions.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience working with Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations and other applicable regulatory requirements, preferably in the aviation mode.

  • Completion of Transportation of Dangerous Goods–related training through a recognized institution is preferred.

  • Experience in safety or quality management programs is considered an asset.

  • Strong process management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent multitasking abilities and adaptability to shifting priorities under pressure.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation capabilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams.

  • Proven experience supporting operational programs or business functions.

  • Proficient in PC-based applications, including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
