Regularized Relief Team Surgical: Unit 22 Day surgery. Unit 23 Surgical Short Stay. Unit 29 General Surgery/ Colorectal/ Gyne/ Upper GI/ Breast hernia/ Thyroid/ Bariatric. Unit 52 Orthopedic Surgery/ Plastics/ Vascular amputees. Unit 58 Vascular Surgery/ Podiatry/ Oral-Maxillo Facial/ ENT. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary health care team, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides a professional, caring and comprehensive approach to the surgical and medical patients. The RN provides leadership in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients and families. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following surgical areas: Previous float pool, Day surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Oral-Maxillo Facial, ENT, Plastics, Breast hernia, Thyroid, Bariatric, Gynecology, Colorectal, Vascular Surgery, and Podiatry.

Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year’s surgical nursing experiences within the last 2 years is required. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting. Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies. Basic Knowledge of computers and software applications (ie Microsoft Office, Connect Care/ EPIC). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Actively integrates patient and family centered care principles within own nursing practices. Preferred Qualifications

Current IV, CVC, epidural, and PCA certifications. Experience with complex wound care and negative pressure wounds within the last year. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Strong patient teaching skills, ability to be self-directed and exercises independent decision making, nursing judgement, and critical thinking skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively maintain collaborative working relationships.
