Manager, Infection Control and Prevention
About the role
Overview The Manager, Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) provides clinical and administrative program guidance and oversight for the MGH Infection Control Program that encompasses evolving activities within the MGH campus buildings, and externally, with partners of the Hub & Spoke and ETHP. The Manager, IPAC will lead a diverse team in the development, implementation and evaluation of Infection Prevention and Control initiative(s) that are in alignment with and support MGH’s strategic plan inclusive of accountable implementation, operationalization, fiscal management and monitoring of federal, provincial, regional and local initiatives, legislative and best practices related to IPAC and for a quality measurement program ensuring sustainable delivery in the most effective and leading manner targeting the advancement of safety for patients, healthcare providers, visitors and volunteers of MGH.
EDUCATION
- Undergraduate degree in a Clinical discipline preferred, with current certificate of competence issued by the discipline's licensing body of Ontario
- Master’s degree in a health-related discipline an asset
- Successful completion of an approved IPAC Canada Infection Control course and other infection control courses required
- Evidence of ongoing IPAC education and current board certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of recent relevant health related experience within a Canadian Hospital setting required
- Demonstrated clinical, managerial and administrative skills and progressive management experience
- Demonstrated in-depth expertise in prevention and infection control required
- Sound knowledge of applicable Legislations and understanding of compliance
- Sound judgment and initiative for priority setting; demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Demonstrated ability to bean ambassador of best practice initiatives as it relates to all aspects of prevention and infection control
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective interpersonal relationships with the ability to persuade motivate and influence
- Sound facilitation and negotiation skills with the proven ability to handle difficult situations with tact, diplomacy and sensitivity
- Previous relevant experience with healthcare construction in large facilities is required
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Flexible, organized and self-directed within scope of responsibility; demonstrated initiative and independent judgment
- Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral
- Evidence of sound knowledge and skill with adult education techniques
- Knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques
- Sound computer skills required
- Good work and attendance record required.
