What we offer

Reporting to the General Manager at SAMI, this executive role leads the building components and volumetric modular business units within a high-tech manufacturing environment. Responsible for a large Profit & Loss (P&L), the Vice-President, Housing Solutions will provide strategic, operational, and tactical leadership to support rapid scaling. The ideal candidate is data-driven, with deep expertise in advanced manufacturing, strong business acumen, and exceptional leadership skills. This role offers the opportunity to help address Canada’s housing crisis through innovative production solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with the GM to develop, implement and execute the business units’ strategic plans in alignment with the company’s overarching goals and growth objectives.
  • Have full P&L accountability for assigned business units, ensuring revenue targets, cost controls and profitability goals are consistently achieved.
  • Lead unit economics analysis, cost-to-serve modeling and financial viability assessments for the business unit.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and unlock new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the GM and department leaders across Finance, Technology, and People & Culture to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics that drive cost efficiency and margin improvement.
  • Ensure SAMI is world-class in operational and manufacturing excellence; oversee manufacturing operations, ensuring high levels of productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Establish, track, and continuously improve takt time and throughput across production lines to optimize efficiency and delivery timelines.
  • Champion lean manufacturing, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational agility and competitiveness.
  • Ensure strict adherence to industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity while ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Represent the business unit in executive leadership team meetings, industry events, and external engagements.
  • Contribute to new product development and business diversification strategies, integrating advanced manufacturing technologies and market insights.
  • Design and implement scalable business processes and governance models that enable repeatable performance across current and future sites or expansions.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in manufacturing, automation, engineering, and hardware innovation to identify and implement transformative solutions.
  • Perform other duties as required.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Twenty or more years of progressive operations experience, minimum ten years at senior leadership level, exposure to advanced manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with a proven track record of driving P&L performance, revenue growth, and operational excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and mentor a team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an understanding of financial and project management processes.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; hands-on experience in the set-up of new manufacturing plants; decisive with a demonstrated capability in navigating ambiguity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; demonstrated expertise in leadership and collaboration.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.

Bonus Points

  • P. Eng., Lean Six Sigma, PMP designations an asset.
  • Robust understanding of automation and technology in advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Previous exposure to highly automated and roboticized environments preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing wood-based products at a large scale preferred.
