Job Title: Mechanical Inspector-Heavy Construction
Job Type: Contract (3+ months starting January 2026) (Afternoon shifts)
Location: St. Catharines, ON
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our team for a short-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, equipment testing, and supporting quality and safety initiatives on infrastructure construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct shop, equipment, and field inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Perform equipment testing and document results.
- Attend weekly project update meetings; provide input on progress, quality, and site safety.
- Assist with resolving drawing discrepancies and ensure proper mark-ups.
- Complete daily inspection reports and capture digital photos of site progress.
- Provide inspection support to other departments.
- Support safety programs and initiatives.
- Assist in commissioning new works to a fully operational state.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field (preferred).
- Proficient in reading mechanical/engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of NDT methods and welding standards.
- Previous experience in infrastructure construction projects (preferred).
- Welding and machining inspection experience.
- Outdoor heavy construction experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a mechanical technologist/technician, millwright, or machinist (or similar role).
