About the role

The Area Team Leader plays a critical role in supporting, coaching, and developing team members within their assigned area. This role works closely with the Operations Leader to ensure workflow aligns with daily schedules and weekly targets to meet business objectives. The Area Team Leader promotes cross-functional collaboration, ensures on-time, high-quality product delivery, and serves as a role model for safety, quality, efficiency, and communication. The position requires timely, respectful feedback, effective conflict resolution, identifying development opportunities, and fostering team engagement and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach team members within the assigned area and provide support to other areas as needed.
  • Partner with the Operations Leader to plan staffing requirements, including shift scheduling, vacation planning, and overtime needs.
  • Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs); share results with the Operations Leader.
  • Communicate effectively with internal customers and suppliers.
  • Serve as the primary contact for maintenance, participating in TPM meetings and reporting potential equipment issues.
  • Coordinate with maintenance for repairs, routine upkeep, and preventive maintenance.
  • Manage and delegate Operator Process Monitoring (OPM) tasks, ensuring accuracy and completion.
  • Enforce safety protocols, proper equipment use, and compliance with PPE requirements.
  • Collaborate with Planning and Quality teams on scheduling to ensure on-time delivery, WIP validation, inventory accuracy, and MRB disposition.
  • Maintain 6S standards and drive continuous improvement, including tool/gauge inspection, calibration, MRB handling, and non-conformance processes.
  • Act as the point of contact for developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions, ensuring compliance with Safety, Quality, ISO, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Promote cross-functional learning through training and development initiatives.
  • Foster a respectful, positive, and team-oriented work environment aligned with company values.
  • Conduct unbiased performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Work with the Operations Leader to identify training needs and develop competency plans.
  • Administer competency testing and maintain training records (logs and matrices).
  • Participate in regular performance reviews and provide continuous feedback.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal and sensitive information.
  • Ensure compliance with company Playbook directives with support from the Operations Leader.
