About the role
OVERVIEW
Responsible for comprehensive nursing care as established by the standards of nursing practice set by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the standards of nursing care at Michael Garron Hospital. Assess, plan, implement and evaluates resident/patients' needs relative to nursing care pertinent to patients on ventilator and require total nursing care. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of performing dependent and independent nursing practices as a member of the professional team.
EDUCATION

Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Registration issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

BScN preferred.
-
CNA certification preferred.
-
BLS certificate.
-
Gerontology certificate an asset.
-
Critical Care certification is an asset.

Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) certificate is an asset
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent experience in LTC/chronic care setting, working with continuous complex care patients, cognitive support in LTC/chronic care setting, and short term Rehabilitation program.
- Previous experience with patients on ventilation in chronic care setting.
- Previous experience caring for patients living with dementia and BPSD
- Ability to promote optimum level of resident/patient functioning.
- Able to perform peripheral IV insertions as well as peripheral vascular access device nursing care andmanagement
- Experience as a team leader or in charge
- Recent experience with feeding pumps, enteral feeds, oxygen administration, skin wound management, intermittent catheterization, and tracheal suctioning.
- PICC/Central lines management.
- Ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member.
- Demonstrated leadership attributes and skills.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills.
- Motivated to pursue educational goals.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated excellent observation skills.
- Demonstrated superior organizational skill.
- Good work and attendance record required.
