About the role
SUMMARY
In preparation for the fall season in our newly renovated and expanded store, we are seeking mature Sales Associates who are passionate about our customers and who have a keen desire to learn and succeed.
A Sales Associate team member works in a fast-paced environment that involves constant interaction with customers, delivering friendly and courteous service while explaining product benefits and fulfilling customer needs. This role also involves store maintenance such as stocking shelves, merchandising and general housekeeping.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Provides excellent customer service to all customers entering the store, which begins with a smile and eye contact
-
Directs customers to the location of requested items
-
Answers questions and provides friendly advice and services to customers including ensuring they go home with all value-added and related products that they might need
-
Responds to and handles customer inquiries, request and concerns, in a timely manner- both over the phone and in person.

Handles multiple customers in an effective and efficient manner
-
Deals with challenging situations in a professional manner
-
Keeps up to date with in-store promotions and product locations
-
Ensures that retail basic tasks are executed efficiently such as stocking, labels, facing etc.
-
Merchandise display areas using modules or plan-o-grams as guidelines
-
Maintain inventory accuracy and identifies/reports low stock levels
-
Operates computer and RF guns as well as E.F.D. as primary tools to provide excellent customer service
-
Plays an active role in the department team by opening sharing opinions on how to improve department success
-
Complies with company, store and department policies
-
Abides by all health and safety programs and regulations. Reports any observed or potential hazards immediately
-
Uses professional language and maintains a professional appearance (uniform, hygiene, grooming and name tag) when interacting with others

Completes all tasks as required
REQUIREMENTS
- Candidate must have a clean attendance record and exceptional punctuality to be successful in this role,.
- Basic math and typing skills
- Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English
- Ability to work under minimal supervision with computerized systems
- Experience in a customer service role and/or with a Canadian Tire store is an asset

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Standing/walking for up to 8 hours

Lifting and /or carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis. Merchandise may vary in weight from "light" to "heavy"

Lifting and turning repeatedly throughout the shift

Lifting above the shoulder, from floor to shoulder and floor to waist
-
Ability to go up and down a ladder while carrying merchandise
-
Walking and carrying things at the same time and pushing/pulling, as required

Ability to handle and manage the stress of an ever changing retail climate
