Full-Time Optician / Frame Stylist
Vision Care on Woodward – Ottawa, ON
Overview
Vision Care on Woodward is the newest location within our group of clinics, joining our established practices Merivale Vision Care and Wellington Vision Care. As we continue to grow, we are excited to welcome team members who want to help build a positive patient experience and support the continued success of our clinics.
The Optician / Frame Stylist is responsible for delivering an exceptional optical experience by guiding patients through frame and lens selection, ensuring accurate eyewear orders, and supporting the clinical and optical’s daily operations. This role combines technical accuracy, product knowledge, and patient-centered service.

Monday – Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with frame selection based on prescription, lifestyle needs, comfort, and aesthetics
- Recommend lens options, coatings, and upgrades in alignment with the doctor’s prescription and clinic standards
- Take accurate optical measurements including PD, segment height, and other fitting measurements
- Verify prescriptions and eyewear orders for accuracy prior to submission
- Process, receive, and inspect eyewear orders and troubleshoot discrepancies as needed
- Perform eyewear adjustments, repairs, and fittings
- Maintain optical displays, frame organization, and inventory accuracy
- Collaborate with team members across other Vision Care locations to ensure seamless patient service and consistent optical standards
Administrative & Operational Support
- Enter and manage optical orders within Visual Eyes
- Handle optical-related patient inquiries and follow-ups
- Support contact lens ordering and dispensing as needed
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and visual standards of the dispensary
- Answer phones, return voicemails, and respond to emails as needed
- Book, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments when required
- Check patients in and out, process payments using the POS system
- Complete end-of-day administrative tasks including balancing the till and updating required spreadsheets
- Ensure patients receive a welcoming and high-quality service experience throughout their visit
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong customer service and patient communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in optical measurements and order entry
- Comfort using optical tools, measurement devices, and clinic software
- Ability to manage multiple patients and tasks efficiently
- Demonstrated punctuality, reliability, and consistent attendance
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
- Willingness to learn and maintain knowledge of frames, lenses, and optical products
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and clinic protocols
- Openness to learning and supporting other areas of the clinic as needed
- Ability to assist with contact lens fittings and provide patient education on insertion, removal, and care is an asset
