Summary
The AMIX Group is looking for a dynamic Senior Accountant to work in a hands on environment in a fast paced environment, preferably with multi company/divisional experience. Knowledge and work experience in construction, recycling, marine services or manufacturing would be excellent.
The position is accountable to both executive and operation management for the financial integrity and information of the Company, as they will be responsible for preparing working papers, project financials and full cycle accounting.
The candidate will report into the Controller and work directly with the finance team on an every day basis, in office.
What the role will be doing:
The Senior Accountant will be accountable for and take ownership of the following responsibilities but are not limited to:
- Directly responsible for accounting functions for AMIX, and affiliated companies as assigned.
- Processes and reconciles internal and external accounts and prepares related documents.
- Performs month-end closing activities of subsidiary companies which includes creating journal entries in the general ledger, preparing monthly financial statements, working papers, reporting and analysis
- Assists with treasury management including bank reconciliations and monitoring cash flow.
- Monitors and maintains fixed assets ledger, leases, and bank covenant requirements.
- Prepares wire payments and EFT payments for various AMIX companies in the BMO online banking system
- Prepares monthly vessel utilization schedules for multiple marine assets and equipment.
- Reconciles and prepares tax filings for various government authorities such as GST, PST, others.
- Work with administration employees to ensure timely and accurate A/R and A/P
- Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its customers.
- Displays a commitment to continuous improvement both personally and professionally.
- Communicates effectively with different stakeholders within or outside the organization.
- Contributes to work environment in an open and positive manner.
- Demonstrates professionalism and adheres to best management practices.
- Commits to team effort and is willing to assist with projects outside of job responsibilities in order to achieve a common goal.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
The Senior Accountant has the following qualifications and experience:
- Diploma or bachelor?s degree in accounting or finance.
- 3?5 years of experience in full cycle accounting, specifically within construction, heavy civil, recycling, or marine environments.
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs).
- Experience with construction specific ERP or accounting software such as Sage 300, Sage Intact, MS Dynamics.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial team members.
