A Strategic Role at the Heart of Logistics The Senior Advisor, Health and Safety and disability case management will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of occupational health and safety (OHS) cases across all Canadian provinces. As a true subject matter expert, this individual will act as an internal reference point for the HR generalist team and managers, ensuring strict compliance with provincial legislation and best practices. This role includes proactive management of workplace injury cases, coaching managers to promote temporary assignments and respect functional limitations, and implementing strategies to reduce OHS-related costs and risks. The position also ensures compliance with OHS legislation specific to each province/territory, supports effective resolution of incidents and claims, and promotes consistent practices in investigations, corrective actions, accommodations, and return-to-work (RT) programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety Case Management (All Provinces/Territories)
  • Oversee and coordinate comprehensive management of claims and workplace injury cases across all Canadian provinces.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial laws and regulations (CNESST, WSIB, WCB, etc.), including timelines and reporting obligations.
  • Identify systemic trends and risks using case data; recommend preventive actions and support implementation within operations.
  • Maintain standardized processes, templates, and guides while ensuring jurisdictional nuances are accurately reflected.
  • Monitor OHS performance indicators and propose corrective actions.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory requests, inspections, orders, and follow-ups; maintain audit and inspection readiness.
  • Work in close partnership with the Occupational Health and Safety advisory team
  • Expertise and Guidance
  • Serve as a technical resource for HR teams and managers on OHS matters.
  • Advise on best practices for return-to-work and temporary assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with functional limitations and medical recommendations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative and regulatory OHS requirements across all Canadian jurisdictions and translate changes into practical advice and internal policy updates.
  • Training and Coaching
  • Train and coach managers to foster a proactive OHS culture.
  • Develop tools and guides to support OHS case management.
  • Continuous Improvement and Reporting
  • Identify OHS trends and risks and recommend prevention strategies in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Safety prevention team.”
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations teams to reduce claim-related costs.
  • Track and report key metrics via dashboards (e.g., incident trends, case closure timelines, completion of corrective actions, RT outcomes, ICD/ILD duration).
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance, reduce risks, and improve employee well-being outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Relations, or related field; HR or OHS certification is an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing OHS cases across multiple provincial jurisdictions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian OHS laws and regulations.
  • Experience handling highly sensitive medical information with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-site environment and manage complex priorities.
  • Strong investigation, documentation, and analytical skills; ability to develop defensible case files and recommendations.
  • Proficiency with computer tools and OHS management systems.
  • Bilingual (French-English).
  • Experience in a high operational presence sector (transportation, logistics, manufacturing).
