About the role
Job Description Reporting to the Chief Data, Analytics & Knowledge Officer (CDAKO), the Senior Manager, Data Products will lead the build of a small, high-impact portfolio of trusted, AI-ready data products that power analytics, reporting, and agentic workflows across the enterprise. This is a product leadership role for a hands-on, analytically strong professional who understands that data governance is the discipline that makes products trustworthy — the method, not the mandate. You will own what data is trusted, how it is defined, and how it is made consumable, beginning with people and workforce data as the anchor domain. This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment. What You'll Do Build and own priority data products — defining what “trusted” means for each domain through business rules, quality thresholds, freshness requirements, and certified definitions. Profile, monitor, and validate data quality hands-on, applying analytical methods to detect anomalies and distinguish data errors from operational signals. Build and maintain data quality pipelines that continuously assess product health, and package priority data as consumable products — governed extracts, certified views, and structured feeds that analytics and AI workflows depend on. Convene and lead a cross-functional data governance group, bringing together data stewards from source-side business functions with IT as infrastructure collaborator; establish cadence, issue tracking, and a steward registry, and enable stewards with clear standards and tooling. Design data products for AI and agentic readiness — structured, consistent, versioned, and annotated with business context — partnering with the Analytics & AI team on downstream requirements. Lead, develop, and grow a small team, including a Data & Analytics Engineer, and manage external engineering capacity for special projects. Partners with IT and Privacy on the design and implementation of data governance tools within the environment to assist with sensitivity labelling, business glossary, classification, and data scanning — ensuring product design reinforces security and privacy controls. Support a Data Analytics Community of Practice and contribute governance standards into enterprise knowledge assets, building documentation that scales cleanly from people data to clinical and other domains. Bring recommendations to CDAKO and executive leadership on domain sequencing and scope expansion based on demonstrated success and data readiness. What You Bring 5–10 years of hands-on experience in data management, data quality, data engineering, or analytics roles within complex enterprise environments. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree an asset. People leadership experience — managing or mentoring direct reports, junior analysts, or co-op students, and maintaining a high-performance culture in a build-phase environment. Strong SQL proficiency and the ability to profile, query, and validate data directly; analytical capability to assess data quality pipelines, detect anomalies, and distinguish data errors from operational signals. Product thinking — experience treating data as a product with consumers, quality standards, and delivery accountability. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior leaders (VP/C-level) and frontline data owners, and to drive accountability across organizational boundaries without direct authority. Clear communication — able to explain data quality issues and their business impact to non-technical audiences and to document clearly. Strong Assets Advanced analytical capability — statistical modelling, econometrics, or quantitative analysis applicable to data quality pipelines and workforce analytics. Familiarity with Workday as an HR system of record, including data structures and integration patterns. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or equivalent data catalogue, sensitivity labelling, business glossary, or data lineage tooling in a Microsoft ecosystem. Healthcare or other regulated-industry experience with compliance and data integrity requirements; clinical data exposure an asset. Understanding of what AI and agentic workflows require from upstream data — structure, consistency, provenance, and freshness. Experience standing up steward networks or data quality programs, not just operating within existing frameworks. At Extendicare, we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential. We value each employee, encourage equal opportunity for growth and recognize achievement. As a valued member of our team, you can expect: Continuous mentorship, support for life-long learning and growth opportunities Opportunities for advancement and career growth within the organization A rewarding and meaningful work experience where you can enrich your life and the lives of others through your work.
