Position Description
We are currently looking for experienced pediatric nurses to join our PACU nursing team.
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide family-centered nursing care to children along the surgical continuum of care. You will assess the nursing needs and provide care to support children and families as they experience illness and the response to treatment.
We are looking for experienced paediatric nurses to join our team and provide Full time coverage in different areas of Peri-operative services including Pre-Anaesthesia Clinic, Pre-Operative Care Unit, PACU and the Integrated Sedation Team. Shifts will be scheduled based on the needs in each area.
Here's What You'll Get To Do:
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments of patients scheduled for a general anaeshtetic.
- Provide pre-operative teaching and preparation as it relates to the effects of general anaesthesia on the patient.
- Care for patients on the day of procedure, preparing them to safely transition to the operating room.
- Care for patients recovering from general anaesthesia prior to transfer back to an inpatient unit or discharge home.
- Work in collaboration with the child/family and the interdisciplinary health care team.
- Maintain clinical competence and knowledge base through continued education and life-long learning.
- Utilize evidence-based practice in the promotion of professional accountability.
- Provide safe, competent and ethical nursing care.
Here's What You'll Need:
- Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience in pediatric nursing is a strong asset but not mandatory (minimum 2-3 years preferred)
- Experience in PACU or critical care of paediatric patients strongly preferred.
- PALS certification required or willing to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

- 8-hour shifts starting throughout the day including 0600, and 1600 start times
