##JOB SUMMARY:

The AGLC is advancing its enterprise data capabilities to better support regulatory excellence, informed decision‑making, and innovative digital services. We are looking for a Business Intelligence Architect to help shape the next evolution of our data ecosystem and lead the design of modern, scalable analytics platforms across the organization.

This is not a traditional BI developer role. It is a senior, strategic position responsible for defining and guiding the enterprise‑wide architecture that supports data, analytics, AI/ML, governance, and business intelligence. You will combine hands‑on technical knowledge with strong architectural leadership to build trusted, high‑performing data solutions used across the AGLC, with a particular focus on supporting the iGaming regulatory environment.

What You Will Do

Architect Enterprise Data & Analytics Solutions

  • Define, evolve, and maintain AGLC’s enterprise BI and analytics architecture, ensuring consistent data models, standards, and practices across business areas.
  • Design integrated data platforms- including data warehouse, data lake/lake house- and ensure they support analytics, reporting, and emerging use cases such as AI/ML.
  • Lead the development of enterprise data reference architectures, patterns, and roadmaps aligned with corporate priorities.

Advance Modern Data Engineering & Platform Capabilities

  • Architect and oversee scalable data pipelines using modern ELT/ETL patterns, with strong emphasis on Databricks and Azure data services.
  • Ensure AGLC’s data platforms meet requirements for security, performance, reliability, cost effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide architectural oversight for CI/CD, DevOps and release processes within the data engineering environment.

Collaborate, Influence & Drive Business Outcomes

  • Work closely with enterprise and solution architects, business units, project teams, and vendors to deliver high value data solutions.
  • Translate business strategies and regulatory requirements into architectural designs that enable measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to architecture review processes, vendor evaluations, and cross jurisdiction initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to technical teams, consultants, and other partners.

##SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or data architecture, ideally in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with the Databricks platform and modern data engineering tools.
  • Proficiency in Python and Apache Spark.
  • Solid understanding of data modelling (relational, dimensional, and domain‑driven approaches).
  • Experience with Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSRS) and Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑based data platforms such as Azure Synapse Analytics or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Familiarity with architectures supporting AI/ML capabilities.
  • Assets include:
    • Databricks, Power BI, or Azure data engineering certifications.
    • TOGAF or DAMA CDMP certification.

NOTE:

  • To be eligible to work for AGLC, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or eligible to work in Canada.
  • While we appreciate all applications we receive, we advise that only candidates under consideration will be contacted.
  • As a condition of employment, you will be required to obtain a satisfactory security clearance and clean drivers abstract (if necessary) prior to employment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.
  • AGLC is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
